Answer to Question 1

It allows students to develop literacy skills in their native language more easily, which will easily translate into increased English skills. It will also allow the child to continue to communicate with their parents and also increases cognitive functioning.

Answer to Question 2

Gender bias is when a person possesses different views of female versus male competencies. Most frequently these views favor one gender over another. This may be a problem in a classroom if a teacher views one gender as being more competent in a subject area. This may lead to a teacher not giving equal chances to all students to succeed.
