Answer to Question 1

When you match on multiple variables, it might be easy to come up with close matches on one of them, but with each succeeding variable, the matches are likely to be weaker. The matching that you end up with will also differ if you match on variables in different orders.
Matching can be useful because it would reduce the differences across groups that are due to individual differences.

Answer to Question 2

Research has produced mixed results regarding the likelihood that participants will inform others of the research. Some research suggests that participants will talk about the study to others, but other research suggests that, if the experimenter requests people not to talk to others about the research, those participants respect the experimenter's request.
