In 2006, China began to dramatically increase its involvement with Africa, much to the chagrin of the western world and some Africans.Why is China interested in Africa, and what complaints do Africans have about China's advance?

China is unashamed about its interests in Sub-Saharan Africa: it needs and wants the region's raw materials especially oil, iron ore, copper, and cottonto feed its industrial appetite.
Africanscomplain about China's record of not hiring locals, instead bringing in Chinese nationals for virtually all labor and management positions.
In other cases, Chinese firms have reportedly mistreated African workers and paid them what have been described as slave wages..
Some Chinese projects have been documented as having detrimental environmental impacts.
Although China is helping several African countries to build EPZs, just as China did to spur its own economic growth, China has also devised a unique way of profiting from these zones. China has taken advantage of the fact that AGOA-supported EPZs in Africa lack rules of origins provisions.
