RATIONALE: In reality, although the makeup and interactions of its parts have changed, the trilogy model is still valid and useful as an introduction to the major ways of life in the Middle East and North Africa. It is especially significant that a given person in the region strongly identifies as a villager, a pastoral nomad, or an urbanite.
