Answer to Question 1

The values that students entered in the table should be very low in order to achieve a
water balance on the graph in 2050. A population growth rate of 0 percent, for example,
would be unreasonable.



Answer to Question 2

Answers will vary. By experimenting with each of the variables in the spreadsheet,
students may fi nd that the population growth rate has the most infl uence on water
availability.
