cyclone-free areas? What will be an ideal response?

Question 2

Answer to Question 1

Answers will vary, but information presented here points to a combination of the lack of
a seasonal ITCZ and high vertical wind shear in these areas. There is some debate among
scientists as to the actual cause(s) of this phenomenon. (See www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/tcfaq/tcfaqHED.html
for additional information and discussion of this topic.)

Answer to Question 2

If ocean temperatures rise, and surface temperatures higher than 27 C are more
widespread, it is reasonable to predict that more tropical cyclones would form. These
would also reach higher latitudes and be of greater average intensity.
