Answer to Question 1

Answer: Patterned ground is a periglacial phenomenon common to the tundra. They form in the active layer because of freeze and thaw and sometimes form polygons. Other times they are caused by growing wedges of ice in the active layer.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: There are all sorts of possible evidence: U-shaped profile, glacial steps, hanging troughs, etc. could be mentioned and defined. The valley will have a preponderance of erosional rather than depositional features.
