Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

Q = wdv
where Q = discharge; w = channel width; d = channel depth; and v = stream velocity.
As Q increases, one or more of the other variables must also increase. So, if discharge and depth remain the same, but width increases, velocity must decrease.
