Answer to Question 1

precipitation (PRECIP) is the moisture supply to the Earth's surface. It comes in different forms, such as rain, snow, sleet, etc.
potential evapotranspiration is the amount of water that would evaporate if water were not a limiting factor.
actually evapotranspiration (ACTET) is the actual amount of water evapotranspired to the atmosphere. When precipitation exceeds evapotranspiration, ACTET=POTET, and a surplus occurs. When POTET exceeds precipitation, a deficit occurs.
Soil moisture storage (STRGE) is the volume of water in the subsurface soil moisture zone accessible to plant roots.
