Answer to Question 1
There was about twice as much in the Northern Hemisphere as the Southern Hemisphere with approximately 10 million km2 covered in North America, 5 million km2 covered in Europe, and 4 million km2 covered in Siberia This land coverage difference was simply due to the proportion of land available to be covered in each hemisphere. The southern polar ice sheet expansion was limited by the size of Antarctica. By contrast, North America, Europe, and Asia have tremendous land areas.
Answer to Question 2
During the last Ice Age, approximately 30 percent of Earth's land area was covered in ice.
