Answer to Question 1

Valley glaciers form U-shaped valleys that may have waterfalls leading into them suspended from hanging valleys formed by small tributary alpine glaciers that once fed the main valley glacier. At mountaintops, one might see pyramid-shaped horns standing above bowl-shaped cirques where glaciers sat at valley heads. The cirque may even hold a tarn, a residual lake after all the ice has melted from the accumulation zone. Sinuous rocky ridges (artes) may extend out from the horn, and if the terrain is near the ocean, a steep-sided fjord or two may connect the mountainous, formerly glaciated landscape to the sea.

Answer to Question 2

Till is unsorted sediment deposited directly by glacial ice. Stratified drift is sorted sediment deposited by glacial meltwater.
