The rapid increase in China's emission of GHG is related to its spectacular industrialization over the past decades. In 2007 China released its first national plan on climate change, which calls for major gains in energy efficiency as well as a partial transition to renewable resources of energy. The government has also been subsidizing the manufacturing of solar panels for generating electricity. Lastly, China has moved to expand its nuclear power generation.
