A report differs from an argument chiefly in that:
 
  a. It avoids controversial subjects.
  b. Its main purpose is to inform in a manner that wins trust in the reliability of
  the information.
  c. Material that does not support the conclusion is omitted or downplayed. d. It has a clearly committed bias.

Arguments and reports are each structured differently and have different objectives. We cannot analyze one according to the standards of the other. An argument differs from a report in that:
