Answer to Question 1

The need for concrete examples is the most important implication. While much of physics is quantitative and abstract, students often lack the qualitative experience needed to make the abstractions meaningful. It is unlikely that the students will be formal operational when they begin a physics class. Therefore, beginning with concrete experiences and moving to abstract ideas will result in the most learning and development.
