Answer to Question 1

The advantage is that it provides clean and abundant energy. The disadvantage is risk of contamination
from processing, transportation, and disposal of uranium and high-level nuclear waste. Moreover,
there is a large backlog of nuclear waste being stored because of the lack of an approved high-level
nuclear waste repository. The technological requirements for such a repository are extremely
challenging because of the length of time required for these materials to be safely stored.

Answer to Question 2

Geothermal energy is clean and sustainable if properly managed.
