Answer: The combined mass of all asteroids is now estimated to be less than Image of Earth.

Answer: Io is caught in a tug-of-war between Jupiter and other Galilean satellites. Tidal forces between Jupiter and the other Galilean satellites generate enough friction within Io to melt rock.
