Answer: Bacteria break down organic matter trapped in seafloor sediments to produce methane gas. The gases combine with water to create a latticelike cage of water molecules.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Ores are generally metallic materials that can be mined for a profit. Reserves are generally any mineral material that can be extracted for a profit.
