Answer to Question 1

Wind erosion lowers surface elevations. These wind-scoured areas can be recognized as deflation pans or where yardangs remain above a deflated surface. Deposition builds up surface elevations and is most obvious where sand dunes are present.

Answer to Question 2

Convection in both places includes sinking of colder and denser materials and rise of warmer and less dense materials. In both cases, convection transports heat. The biggest difference is the rates of convection, which are on the order of centimeters per year inside Earth whereas wind moves at speeds up to meters per second.

It is tightly attached to the skin below it, so it compensates for the increased area by wrinkling. This happens to the hands and feet because they have the thickest layer of dead keratin cells.
