Answer to Question 1

Dams change flow, trapping much of the sediment behind the dam and leading to erosion downstream of the dam. Loss of vegetation can lead to greater runoff and erosion of stream banks (and silting of rivers). Run off increases in hardscape areas such as cities.

Answer to Question 2

Terraces are step-and-bench landforms alongside and above a river channel. Soils on the terrace top lie on bedload deposits, revealing the presence of an ancient channel that was higher in elevation than its current position.
