Answer to Question 1

Some magmas would not form because water lowers their melting point so that melting can begin.
Some forms of physical weathering, especially freeze/thaw processes, would not occur. Many forms of chemical weathering would not occur.
Erosion involving water would not exist.
There would be no clastic sedimentary rocks that were transported and deposited in water. Those that did exist would not have a cement that formed from an aqueous solution.
There would be no chemical and biogenic sedimentary rocks.
 Hydrous minerals would not exist.
Hydration and dehydration reactions would not occur during metamorphism. Many metamorphic reactions would slow down.

Answer to Question 2

The outer planets had to form before solar wind and high temperature from the Sun stripped gases from the solar system. Lower temperatures are necessary for dust particles to form by condensation. The center of the solar nebula was the hottest. The first place in the nebular disk where it would have been cool enough for condensation would be near the outside. The region where the inner planets eventually form would still be too hot.

About 3% of all pregnant women will give birth to twins, which is an increase in rate of nearly 60% since the early 1980s.

When Gabriel Fahrenheit invented the first mercury thermometer, he called "zero degrees" the lowest temperature he was able to attain with a mixture of ice and salt. For the upper point of his scale, he used 96°, which he measured as normal human body temperature (we know it to be 98.6° today because of more accurate thermometers).

To maintain good kidney function, you should drink at least 3 quarts of water daily. Water dilutes urine and helps prevent concentrations of salts and minerals that can lead to kidney stone formation. Chronic dehydration is a major contributor to the development of kidney stones.

Did you know?

Prostaglandins were first isolated from human semen in Sweden in the 1930s. They were so named because the researcher thought that they came from the prostate gland. In fact, prostaglandins exist and are synthesized in almost every cell of the body.
