Answer to Question 1

ANS: B
Neural control mechanisms and the increased of work breathing prevent decreases in PACO2 much below 15 to 20 mm Hg. Thus, whenever a patient is breathing room air at sea level, the res-piratory therapist should not expect to see a PaO2 any higher than 120 mm Hg during hyperven-tilation.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
Diffusion is the process whereby gas molecules move from an area of high partial pressure to an area of low partial pressure.

People who have myopia, or nearsightedness, are not able to see objects at a distance but only up close. It occurs when the cornea is either curved too steeply, the eye is too long, or both. This condition is progressive and worsens with time. More than 100 million people in the United States are nearsighted, but only 20% of those are born with the condition. Diet, eye exercise, drug therapy, and corrective lenses can all help manage nearsightedness.
