Increased airway resistance, due to bronchoconstriction or airway collapse, is a complication of forced exhalation required to perform peak expiratory flows maneuvers.

The inspiratory hold maneuver shows the pressure to maintain the tidal volume within the pa-tient's lungs during a period of no gas flow; this is the Pplateau.
