ANS: D
The Bird Mark 14 ventilators can produce pressure as high as 200 cm H2O.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: D
During inspiration, negative pressure generated by the patient (along with atmospheric pressure in the left compartment) causes the diaphragm to move toward the right, away from the left com-partment. The valves are located on the Bennett PR series ventilators. At the beginning of exha-lation on the Bird Mark 7, the diaphragm moves toward the left compartment.
