Answer to Question 1

To prepare the patient's room, a nursing assistant should strip
the linen from the bed and make a surgical bed; bring special
equipment to the bedside as needed; and remove everything
from the bedside table except tissues, an emesis basin, tongue
depressor, and equipment for taking vital signs.

Answer to Question 2

Answers may include: perform your work efficiently, explain
every procedure you perform and encourage the patient to assist
when possible, give all your attention to the patient and be
available whenever he or she needs assistance, listen to the
patient's fears or concerns and remain calm if the patient
becomes upset, and express interest in the patient's surgery
and the outcome.
