Answer to Question 1

ribs 8-9

Rationale: The widest transverse region of the bony thorax is at the level of ribs 8/9 . The location of ribs 11-12 is comprised of the floating ribs and therefore, the rib cage becomes narrower.

Answer to Question 2

the image correctly images C3-7

Rationale: The AP axial c-spine will require the central ray to be directed to C5 . The image will only reveal C3-7 due to the mandible and skull. C1 & 2 are viewed through the open mouth.
