Answer to Question 1

Challenges associated with the transition include the following (the response should describe at least four of them and discuss each one's likely impact on students' academic achievement, sense of self, emotional well-being, or motivation):
- Students are undergoing the unsettling changes associated with puberty.
- The school has more students (making it easy for a student to feel lost in the crowd).
- Teacher-student relationships are more superficial and less personal.
- There is less individualized instruction.
- Classes are less socially cohesive; students may not know some of their classmates.
- Competition among students increases.
- Students have more independence and responsibility for their own learning.
- Evaluation standards are more rigorous.

Fatal fungal infections may be able to resist newer antifungal drugs. Globally, fungal infections are often fatal due to the lack of access to multiple antifungals, which may be required to be utilized in combination. Single antifungals may not be enough to stop a fungal infection from causing the death of a patient.

Unlike other forms, more than 80% of hepatitis C infections become chronic and lead to liver disease. When combined with hepatitis B, hepatitis C now accounts for 75% percent of all cases of liver disease around the world.
