Answer to Question 1

ANS: F
Implants should not be flash-sterilized. Only standard cycles with correct biological monitoring should be used. Some implants cannot withstand the heat of steam sterilization. In those cases, ethylene oxide or another method is used.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
A pneumatic tourniquet is commonly used to provide a bloodless field when doing procedures on the extremities. The tourniquet is inflated after the limb is elevated and exsanguinated with a sterile Esmarch. It is important to exsanguinate all blood from the limb to prevent blood clots.
