Dobutamine, a relative of dopamine, increases myocardial contractility but produces little systemic arterial constriction. It is incompatible with alkaline solutions.

If lidocaine is contraindicated, then procainamide is used to suppress PVCs and tachycardia that is recurrent. Hypotension may occur if the infusion is too rapid.
