Answer to Question 1

D
Feedback: Stimulant medications used to treat ADHD can suppress appetite, and the child may lose or fail to gain weight properly. The client is too young to manage his medications independently. Ritalin should be given in divided doses. Ritalin reduces hyperactivity, impulsivity, and mood lability and helps the child to pay attention more appropriately.

Answer to Question 2

A
Feedback: Ritalin has a short half-life, so doses are needed about every 4 hours during the day to maintain symptom control. Giving stimulants during daytime hours usually effectively combats insomnia.
