Answer to Question 1

B
Neurosurgical treatment is extremely rare for cases of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Such treatment is typically reserved for only the most severe cases of the disease. The surgery involves making a series of lesions to interrupt the efferent tracks from the frontal cortex to the limbic and basal ganglia structures. In a recent study 65 of people who underwent this procedure were completely symptom free of obsessive-compulsive disorder, with no further need for treatment.

Answer to Question 2

A
When adolescents are experimenting with adult behaviors, they are most often described as impulsive and high on risk taking. These adult behaviors are considered by the adolescent as things that feel good or behaviors that will help them to be accepted by a peer group. Behaviors include such things as being sexually active, driving motor vehicles without seat belts or helmets, and using alcohol and other drugs. Little thought is given to the consequences of each behavior.
