Answer to Question 1

C
Competency to stand trial requires that an individual be able to understand the nature of legal proceedings and be able to tell his or her story to the attorney and court. Tests of competency can vary from individual to individual.

Answer to Question 2

B
In evaluating the outcomes of her intervention with the family, the nurse would recognize that the father asking for a family meeting to discuss the situation indicates an improvement in the family's level of functioning. In general when there is a moderate level of differentiation, family members are unable to see the world from another's perspective. By asking for a family meeting, the father is acknowledging the school counselor's view that the daughter should go to college. This meeting would provide the entire family the opportunity for addressing the issue from another person's perspective.
