A 40-year-old patient arrives at the clinic. Crying, she says, I just don't feel well. I think the doctors think I'm faking it. They just keep asking me questions and taking blood.

Why don't they give me something to help? Which of the following is the best response by the licensed practical nurse/licensed vocational nurse (LPN/LVN)?
  A) It must be very frustrating to constantly feel ill.
  B) The doctors take blood to check for certain illnesses that might be causing your symptoms.
  C) It is important that you share these concerns with your doctor.
  D) All of the above

Question 2

It is the first day of your rotation on the afternoon shift. You hear in a report that one of your patients has slipped back into depression. As you make your first rounds, you observe this patient sitting quietly and staring out the window.

The patient does not respond when you approach him or her, so you say, therapeutically:
  A) What's the matter? It can't be that bad
  B) Pull it together. You are so close to being discharged
  C) I understand you are feeling bad. I'd like to help.
  D) What happened? Everything was fine yesterday.
