Answer to Question 1

A
Once-daily dosing has the highest potential for helping the patient achieve compliance. Many antidepressants can be administered by once-daily dosing. Explaining how taking each dose of medication on time relates to health maintenance is reasonable but would not achieve the goal, because it does not address the issue of stigma. Establishing a new nursing diagnosis would not correct the problem; the stem of the question asks for an intervention, not analysis.

Answer to Question 2

A
Substitution is defined as disguising motivations by replacing an inappropriate behavior with one that is more acceptable. Restitution is defined as doing something to resolve guilt feelings; suppression is removing anxiety about a conflict from consciousness; and rationalization uses a good, but unreal, reason to make an excuse for an action.
