Answer to Question 1

Ans: C
Feedback:
Many studies strongly suggest a genetic contribution. Relatives of people with schizophrenia have a higher incidence of the disorder than is found in the general population. First-degree relatives (ie, parents, siblings, children) of clients with schizophrenia are at greater risk for the illness than are second-degree relatives (eg, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, half-siblings). Schizophrenia is 13 more likely to develop in children with one parent who has schizophrenia than in those with unaffected parents; when both parents have schizophrenia, a child has a 46 risk for the illness (NIMH, 2006).

Answer to Question 2

Ans: A
Feedback:
The lack of a logical relationship between thoughts and ideas may be manifested by speech that is vague, diffuse, unfocused (loose associations), or incoherent (eg, using words that are totally unrelatedword salad) or by a client's inability to get to the point (tangentiality). Hallucinations, delusions, and paucity of speech do not result from alterations in the relationships between words.
