Alternative therapies are treatments and health care practices that are not widely taught in West-ern medical schools, not generally used in Western hospitals, and not generally reimbursed by health insurance. Option 2 does not reflect a holistic viewpoint. Option 3 is untrue; alternative therapies have not been widely researched. Option 4: No evidence supports this statement.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: 1
With biofeedback, a client can learn to gain conscious control over bodily responses thought to be beyond voluntary command. Listening to the monitoring device makes the client aware of whether or not the mental exercises, breathing, or other techniques being used are effective. The signal reinforces effective use of the technique until the technique literally becomes second na-ture and the monitor is no longer needed. 2. The machine is only needed early in therapy. 3. This is not entirely true; sometimes the machine is set to monitor other parameters. 4. Biofeedback tends to lower anxiety.
