Answer to Question 1

The pelvic girdle ligaments fuse preventing normal delivery. A caesarian section is required to deliver the young and prevent the death of the sow due to dystocia (difficult birth).

Answer to Question 2

Lumpy jaw is the common name for cervical lymphadenitis. The lymph nodes under the jaw become abscessed. Streptococcus bacteria invade oral wounds and abrasions. Lumpy Jaw may also be caused by malocclusion (bad-bite).
