Genetic engineering is commonly preferred over traditional breeding methods because it gives scientists the ability to place the particular gene that controls the desired characteristic in the precise place on the chromosome, achieving the anticipated result in the next generation of plant or animal.

Traditional breeding methods, by comparison, are less reliable and more time-consuming.

Farming is a part of agriculture, but farmers represent only a small portion of the people involved in agriculture. Many people are involved in aspects of agriculture, including the transportation, processing, and preservation of food and fiber.
