Answer to Question 1

When the amount of feed consumed by an animal in 24 hours contains all the needed nutrients in the
proper proportions and amounts, the ration is a balanced ration.

Answer to Question 2

Green roughages are plant materials with high moisture content, such as grasses in pastures and root
plants, including sugar beets, turnips, and rutabagas. Silage is the feed that results from the storage and
fermentation of green crops. Some silages are corn, grasses, legumes, and small grains.
