Answer to Question 1

A direct attack means that the fire fighters are applying chemicals, smothering, throwing soil, or putting water
onto the flames themselves. This is normally done on the rear or flanks of the fire, when the fire is relatively small
and slow moving, or in mopping-up operations

Answer to Question 2

Triangulation is the process of determining the location of a fire by measuring the direction to it from two or more
known locations, such as fire towers. Modern technology is making triangulation a relic of the past.
