Answer to Question 1

Direct seeding is planting seeds directly into the soil outdoors. Factors that determine
the success of this method: site selection, seedbed preparation, planting date, planting
depth and spacing, and moisture.

Answer to Question 2

Percent germination is the percentage of seeds that will sprout and grow. This can be
experimentally determined by simply sowing 100 seeds and determining the number of
seeds that germinate.
