ANS:Ruminants
do not chew their food completely when eating roughages. The material is swallowed and
then forced back up the esophagus and chewed later; hence the term chewing the cud.

ANS:It helps the farmer to select the proper livestock feeds, which leads to greater efficiency in feeding livestock.
