What will be an ideal response?

Question 2

What are some possible explanations for your results? If you had unexpected
results, what might have happened to contaminate your samples of potato?

Answer to Question 1

The potato provided a source of nutrition and water. Potatoes are a rich source of
water and nutrition; therefore, they provide a good medium for bacterial growth

Answer to Question 2

Bacteria are present on all surfaces and in the air. The untreated potato could have
been contaminated very easily from any of these other sources.
