Answer to Question 1

Bramble fruits propagate differently, depending on the variety. Black and purple
raspberries are propagated by tip layering. Red raspberries and upright blackberries are
propagated from root suckers and root cuttings. The rooted suckers are dug up and
separated from the parent plant and planted in early spring.

Answer to Question 2

Disease prevention measures for bramble fruits include starting with the proper site,
choosing disease-resistant varieties, buying and planting only disease-free plants,
removing and burning all diseased plants, removing old canes after harvest, keeping the
planting free of weeds and fallen leaves, and using pesticides when necessary
