Answer to Question 1

Three reasons lawns are established are for use as play areas for sports and recreation,
to add beauty to the landscape, and to control soil erosion.

Answer to Question 2

Answers will vary, but should include that the main goal of rains gardens is to help solve
problems associated with the management of surface water drainage. They are practical
in areas with surface water runoff, such as in natural depressions where rainwater
runoff drains from the driveway, walkways, or roof onto graded areas. The plants also
create a biofiltration area for the groundwater overflow on the property.
