Answer to Question 1

Wetlands help filter water before it reaches open areas that store surface water, they
catch runoff before it reaches open deeper bodies of surface water, they collect and
absorb floodwater, and they provide drinking water, food, and shelter for a variety of
animals.

Answer to Question 2

Bare minimum plowing allows more plant roots and plant cover to hold the soil, and it
slows the flow of water over the land.
