Glass - durability good, cost high, PAR transmission good

film plastic - durability fair, cost low, PAR transmission excellent

vinyl plastic (PVC) - durability good, cost moderate, PAR transmission excellent fiberglass - durability good, cost moderate, PAR transmission good

acrylic panels - durability good, cost moderate, PAR transmission good

Answer to Question 2

The top portion of the plant will not receive sufficient light and will defoliate. A hanging plant should be hung with the top at least 1 foot below the top of the window.
