Why is an attachment placed on the pot end of the thin polyethylene tubes which deliver water to each individual pot in an automatic pot watering system?

Answer to Question 1

To prevent the tube from jumping out of the pot when the water is turned
on. To stop root substrate from drawing into the end of the tube and plugging it
when the water is turned off. To stop the exiting water from digging a hole in the
root substrate and separating the components of the root substrate.
