hoe - shallow cultivation and weeding

hand pruners - cutting branches up to  in diameter oscillating sprinkler - watering lawns and groundcovers lopping shears - cutting branches up to 1in diameter

hose end sprayer - fertilizing lawns, flowers, and other shallow-rooted plants pruning saw - removing large branches that are too big for loppers

Answer to Question 2

It will weaken the trunk because the trunk will not move in the wind and develop natural strength.
