Answer to Question 1

A fairy ring is caused by a fungus and will develop slowly over time, but reappear. An animal urine burn will develop quickly, gradually fade away, and not return in the same spot.

Answer to Question 2

Moss can be discouraged from developing by increasing the amount of sunlight that reaches the turf, increasing the air circulation over the turf, maintaining dense turf, reducing compaction, and improving both surface and ground drainage.
