Why is ranching more profitable and less risky in the central Great Plains compared to most parts of the western USA?

Answer to Question 1

Ranching is less risky and more profitable in the Great Plains than the western United States because of lower amounts of land per animal unit are required in the Great Plains and precipitation is generally higher and less variable
